Extra Care
What is Extra Care?
Extra care housing schemes link accommodation with care and are seen as the way forward to provide older people with their own high quality accommodation, with access to housing related support and a personal care package that is close at hand.
The main aim is to give older people the support they need in an environment that promotes independence and provides a real alternative to residential care.
Rokeby Gardens – Kirk Sandall
This is a new build extra care housing development offering comfortable, independent retirement accommodation for older people in 41 apartments for rent and 11 for low cost ownership.
Each apartment has two bedrooms, individually controlled under floor heating, a fully fitted kitchen, a level access wet-room shower and a pull-cord emergency call system.
Rokeby Gardens has been built by Housing 21 in partnership with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, building contractors FHM and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Affordable Housing
Plumlife, who is part of Great Places Housing Group, has been appointed by the Homes and Communities Agency, the government body that funds affordable new homes to be its Homebuy Agents for Greater Manchester, Lancashire, andSouth Yorkshire.
A Homebuy Agent is a one stop shop, allowing you to apply for a whole host of schemes and developments regardless of the supplier by completing just one application form. Plumlife will then notify all the Housing Associations within the area(s) you have chosen, that you are looking for a property. The Homebuy form is downloadable from the website link below.
Plumlife is a not-for-profit company specialising in shared and low cost home ownership - as well as, affordable homes to rent now and buy later. Operating as the 'Homebuy brand and Real Help now' trademark, Plumlife is able to help those who cannot afford a property with just a commercially available mortgage to achieve the dream of owning their own home.

Shared Ownership
Shared ownership is normally a first step towards owning your own home. It is a way of partly owning and partly renting your home. For eaxmple you can buy half your home and pay rent for the remaining share.

Housing Associations provide affordable housing in many areas of Doncaster. They build new homes and improve existing properties, mainly for rent.
