Shortlisting and Offers

Shortlisting and Offers

You can bid for all properties that you are eligible for.  If more than one person applies for the same property, the customer with the highest priority and earliest registration or effective date will be offered the property first. It is important you keep your application up to date, you can do this online by logging in and going to your housing register.

You will only know your final queue position once the advertising cycle has closed by logging into your account. Relevant checks will be carried out and the first eligible applicant who qualifies will be offered the property. If this applicant refuses the offer the property will be offered to the next eligible applicant.

If we reach your turn we will contact you to ensure you are still interested in the property and check your details. If you are still eligible then we will inform you of the property details and the full address and confirm this as an offer in writing. You will then be contacted by an officer who will arrange an accompanied view of the property.

If we cannot contact you or you do not make yourself available we will move onto the next applicant.

You will not be considered for any other offers until you make a decision about your current offer. We will not contact you if you are not successful or if we do not reach your turn.

You will have 24 hours after your viewing to make a decision about your offer.

If you want to accept the property you should let the Area Office know and they will arrange an interview for you to sign your new tenancy agreement.

It is important that you understand the responsibilities of taking on a St Leger Homes property, and the importance of paying your rent so that you do not lose your home. Last financial year we evicted 77 tenants for rent arrears.

In order to ensure you meet your rent obligations, St Leger Homes offer convenient ways to pay your rent. We offer free South Yorkshire Credit Union budget accounts to help you manage your money and pay your bills.Alternatively, have you considered Direct Debit? Our staff can support you in making Direct Debit work for you, ensuring that your rent is paid in full and on time.

Refusal of an Offer

If you are in the Platinum, Gold or Silver band and you refuse, your priority may be removed after three reasonable offers, including adapted accommodation.

This is with the exception of Platinum band statutory homeless applicants who are entitled to refuse one offer only before their priority is removed.

If you are in the Bronze, General or Transfer list and refuse three reasonable offers your application will be suspended for six months and you will not be able to bid during this time.

Each case will be assessed individually as to the reason for the refusal. You will be informed in writing and given the right of review within 28 days of the decision if your priority is removed or you are suspended.
