Who can use the service

You can apply for rehousing online by registering and completing the online housing register application form. You will be given a six digit login reference and asked to provide a memorable date for your online login. You can set this to a date of your choice. You will also be asked for an additional password we may require when you make enquiries about your application.

What additional information is required with my housing register application?

You will need to provide additional information with your application;

  • Proof of your current address
  • Proof of your National Insurance Number
  • Photo identification if you have it
  • Proof of Child benefit/child tax credits with your children details if applicable
  • Confirmation of your local connection to Doncaster
  • Validation of information supplied from the Border and Immigration Agency if applicable
  • A landlord reference
  • Your service record if you have served in the Armed Forces

Your application will remain inactive and you will not be able to bid until we receive this information. If you do not supply this within 28 days your application will not be registered.

Who isn’t eligible or does not qualify to join the housing register?

Some applicants are not eligible or do not qualify to join the housing register. If you:

  • Have outstanding housing related debt over eight weeks arrears
  • Own or have a financial interest and/or have transferred ownership of a property but have continuing rights to reside in a property
  • Have any antisocial behaviour/poor tenancy conduct
  • Have been rehoused within the last 12 months into one of our properties and have no priority reason to move
  • Are a person from abroad who is subject to immigration control – conditions apply
  • Do not have a local connection with Doncaster

Pre-tenancy Service

If you have joined the housing register why not contact St Leger Homes to access our pre-tenancy service which we offer in partnership with North East Doncaster Citizens Advice Bureau.

During a one-to-one appointment, you will receive advice and support to ensure you are able to manage a tenancy once you are successful in getting a property.

The appointment will be arranged at a location convenient for you and will cover a number of things, including:

  • Your rights and responsibilities as a tenant
  • Paying your rent and claiming benefits
  • Budgeting
  • Saving and borrowing money
  • Dealing with debt and asking for help
